The above all joined forces to put in a great showing, coming second in a group of 6 teams. Unfortunately coming second did not allow us to progress. However a great day was had by all and spirits were high. Most importantly the main aim of the Richo Cup was achieved by again raising the awareness about men’s and women’s heart health.

Learning basic CPR techniques

This is the second year that the Richo Cup was held. As a result of money raised from last year, together with other fundraising and donations from business and the soccer clubs , our club was provided with a defibrillator unit AED. The defibrillator unit is located in the change room at Poulton Park as is accessible during game days should the unfortunate need arise.

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

SCA is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. When this happens, blood stops flowing to the brain and other vital organs.

SCA usually causes death if it's not treated within minutes. In fact, each minute of SCA leads to a 10 percent reduction in survival. Using an AED on a person who is having SCA may save the person's life.

Next stage of the campaign is to offer first aid courses to members of our club. More information will soon be provided about first aid courses.

Thanks to everybody who organized, administered and participated in the Rich cup 2016. Another great success.
